Around the Grounds March 2024

Hey Team Elevate! Welcome to our March Notes from HQ update – a chance to reflect on all the awesome things you achieved last month.

It’s hard to believe that we’re a quarter of the way through 2024 already, but things have only been ramping up as we enter one of the busiest periods in the Elevate calendar. Almost 200,000 kids were helped by Elevate coaches and presenters last month, so I think it’s safe to say you all definitely deserved an Easter egg or two across the break.

So without further ado, let’s get stuck in...

Team Australia

The Easter break marked the end of Term 1 for the Aus Team, so many of our Aussie Elevators will still be enjoying some time off before Term 2 kicks off next week. But despite the break, the team has still been busy sharing Slack posts, shoutouts, and feel-good moments from March.

Take a scroll down to check out some great feedback, photos, and our Aus Coach and Presenter of the Month...

Aus Presenter of the Month

Nelson

Awesome work, Nelson, you’re our Aus Presenter of the month for March!

Aus GM, Charlie, noted that Nelson delivered some great quality sems across March and was a standout presenter in terms of team contribution:

‘Nelson has been a phenomenal presenter all term! The feedback he gets from teachers is outstanding, as are his stats. It’s the impressive number of seminars he has delivered, and his exceptional teacher feedback has also recently won him Presenter of the Term for Team Vic!’

We asked Nelson what he loved most about presenting, and this was his response:

‘What I find truly enriching about presenting is the opportunity that it provides to connect. As a presenter, I'm privileged to engage with students from all walks of life, each with their own unique experiences and perspectives - perspectives we can all learn from. It's not just about delivering information, it's about actively listening, learning, and adapting to meet their needs. Through these interactions, I've gleaned invaluable insights from a multitude of students. For me, building rapport in the classroom transcends mere strategy; it's about genuinely understanding their lives to chart the most effective course toward enhancing their daily experiences. The value of 'Everybody teaches, everybody learns' resonates deeply with me. It underscores the collaborative essence of education. This inherent opportunity makes the classroom feel like the most purposeful place I could possibly inhabit and it's my absolute privilege to be there almost every day!’

Standout Presenter Feedback

Jordan

‘Session was great, feedback from students was really positive and they felt they got a lot from it. Jordan was excellent, did an amazing job and kids were attentive.’

Simeon

‘The workshops were great - Simeon was well-organised and had a great energy which suited the students. The students have all said they enjoyed it and got something out of it.’

Britt

‘Brit was excellent.’

Jake

‘Presenter was excellent. Content was relevant.’

Aus Coach of the Month

William

It’s William who is our Australian Coach of the Month for March! He’s earned the title due to his awesome connection with coaching students and the great feedback he consistently receives, just like this parent comment from a 10/10 rated first session:

"It is all going really beautifully, He is already getting on really well with Elliot. Specifically focusing on Time Management and using the apps to feel less overwhelmed. Just pass on our thanks to him for the time he takes to build rapport with Elliot. Elliot really looks forward to working with Will."

Will’s advice for ensuring great sessions is:

'I find that preparation before sessions is the key to achieving the best outcomes for students and parents. I like to take notes after a session about positive progress the student has made, and about areas we still need to work on, so I know how to best prepare the next session. My approach is one of open communication with both students and parents, so they know what’s happening next and why I’ve chosen to structure our sessions that way. What I love most about coaching is seeing a student get on board with the program, and really start to improve as a result.'

Standout Coach Feedback

Yaw

He thoroughly found it useful and found the tutoring helpful and Yaw inspiring.’

Bala

‘He found Bala to be very like-minded and he felt he was in a safe conversation and felt engaged - it was a really good match.’

‘Hannah was absolutely fantastic, exactly the right person for her. She seems to be picking up her game this year and helping her keeping her ducks in a row.’

Coaching Team

And this month we also have a photo of a few of our Aus Coaches at the VIC EOT drinks!

Team South Africa

And now onto our friends over in South Africa. Term 2 has just begun for these guys, and judging from the smiles in the photos above, the end of Term 1 had plenty of highlights.

Take a look below to see what March had in store for Team South Africa and which team members stood out last month.

South African Presenter of the Month

Angelica

It’s Angelica who has topped the list in SA for March, delivering sems that motivate and inspire, and getting great feedback from teachers and her teammates.

Amazing work Angelica! Here’s what she had to say about how she found the third month of the academic year:

‘Wow, what a month March was. I met such an incredible range of students. From those who were nervous about their studies to those who were curious enough to challenge Elevate's theories and ask important questions. But the common denominator amongst them all was a love for learning and a desire to improve. Even on days where technology was having a small temper tantrum, or when it was boiling hot outside, the students gave all their energy and truly soaked in all of Elevate's tips and techniques. This month was challenging, but such a joy. What a lovely way to end the first quarter of the year. I can't wait to see who else we get to work with in 2024’.

Standout Presenter Feedback

Elizabeth

‘Liz was amazing!’

South Africa Coach of the Month

Onkarabile

Onkarabile has been smashing it in coaching across March – she has been receiving consistently great feedback and has jumped in on several occasions to help at short notice. An example of this is when she took on a student with only a day’s notice and received outstanding feedback for the session. Impressive stuff!

We asked Onkarabile what motivates her to deliver such fantastic sessions to students:

‘What I enjoy most about coaching is seeing students progress from being shy and unmotivated to confident and proactive. Seeing the lightbulb come on when they finally understand a concept and then take charge of their learning journey. Being part of this evolution is incredibly fulfilling.’

As always, a huge congratulations to both our Coach and Presenter of the month – amazing work keeping that momentum going right up to the end of term.

Now let’s take a look at what the rest of the team have been getting up to:

The photos above show the South African team delivering student, parent, and staff sessions, both in-person and online. Team Gauteng also flew down to Cape Town to run a session of their own and popped into the office to see the team.

Team UK

Hopping up to Europe, the UK team have been busy preparing students for the upcoming exam season. With GCSE and A Levels now just around the corner, our presenters and coaches have been in high demand.

But who led the charge this month? Scroll down to find out who has been crowned our UK Coach and Presenter of the Month.

UK Presenter of the Month

Tabitha

Tabitha has been recognised by both the UK GM, Leens, and the Head of Talent, Ella, for her dedication and commitment to presenting. She is always receiving glowing feedback and works hard to ensure her sems are the best they can be. Amazing work Tabs, you’re our very deserving UK Presenter of the Month!

Check out some awesome feedback for Tabitha below:

‘Tabitha was highly professional and discussed with us beforehand what we wanted to get out of the sessions. She had a friendly and warm demeanor which shone through the whole day. She engaged well with the students, taking the time to ask their names and get their opinions on different issues. Her delivery style was fun but informative and she used great expression and intonation to get the students' attention.’

Standout Presenter Feedback

Molly

‘Students were full of praise for Molly and found it very useful.’

Josh

‘Sessions went really well; the timing was absolutely perfect for this session. Josh's interaction was amazing.’

 UK Coach of the Month

Imogen

Huge shoutout to Imogen, our UK Coach of the Month!

Imogen has been crushing her coaching programs and getting fantastic comments from students regarding her impact on their study skills ability and confidence:

'Imogen was really helpful - I've learned so much because I didn't have any of my own strategies for mindset'.

'Imogen is very friendly and kind and I can't wait for the next lesson!'

'I understood the lesson and feel that it will improve my time management skills, she is such a helpful coach!'

Team Pics

The arrival of the Easter break meant End of Term meetups took place across the UK at the end of last month, and we’ve got some great photos from the London, North West, and West Mids Teams:

Team London

The London team stayed true to Elevate traditions and honed their ping pong skills at their EOT meetup.

Team North West

The North West Team took the chance to brush up on their trivia at their EOT quiz.

Team West Mids

And lastly, a great photo of the West Mids team getting together before the two-week break.

US Presenter of the Month

Troy

Troy has been recognised by US GM, Rob, for his fantastic work in seminars across March. He’s been topping the list in terms of number of sessions delivered, and getting great feedback from students and teachers while he does it!

We asked Troy what he loves most about presenting:

'I love presenting because I love learning from people. I learn something new with every seminar I teach. This job allows me to meet people from all different cultures, backgrounds, and of all ages and of different beliefs. Finding common ground with these people and creating a collaborative experience with them is beyond worthwhile to me. Thank you, Elevate!'
