Around the Grounds - Presenters of the Month for April and more!

After some big opening months to 2019, most countries had a bit of a pause and time to catch their breath over Easter. But whilst things were “quieter” they certainly weren’t quiet, and as ever, we have some amazing Presenters of the Month to shout-out and celebrate. In addition, Elevate continues to grow, with an additional 5 full-time roles being added globally. If you are enjoying life as a presenter, and would be interested in working full-time with Elevate, then have a read of the opportunities below.

Australia

Let’s start our around the grounds with Oz where a big shout-out goes to NSW Team Leader Extraordinaire, and Presenter of the Term in Australia, Fisher Day, who finished the Term with a feedback average of 98.55 and near perfect teacher feedback across working with 4000 students. Great work Fisher.

Fisher Day - Presenter of the Month in April

DB heads to Oz!

In April, I also had the opportunity to get back to Australia, and get around and visit the TL and presenting teams in South Australia, Victoria and NSW (sorry Queensland and WA – next time I promise!!!). It was amazing have the opportunity to connect with everyone, and I walked away massively impressed and inspired by the level of passion and investment everyone has in Elevate’s mission. Sitting in on everyone’s Helping the Kids moments was fantastic, with the highlight coming from the NSW coaches. A special thank you for the Team Leaders who took the time to meet with me as well. It didn’t matter which state we were in, the quality of leadership was sensational and as ever I walked away feeling re-assured that the presenting body is in safe hands.

Elevate’s first philanthropic project

Also in important news, Oz will become the first Elevate Office to run a philanthropic project in a local, under-resourced community. This initiative is part of the Elevate Why, which was launched last year, and specifically relates to Part 4 of the Why - “Invest in Our Community”.

The Elevate Why

As part of this initiate, Elevate Oz will be investing 2.5% of our profits to fund the roll-out of seminars into hard to reach, indigenous populations in the Northern Territory and Western Australia. We are looking for presenters to be involved in this outreach project with us.

This is a rare opportunity to spend time in indigenous communities and really give back to students who have access to very limited resources. If you would like to be involved, watch out for an email from Phoebe with details for how to apply.

Taking applications for BDM role

Finally, team Oz is expanding its full-time team in Sydney, and we currently have a Business Development Manager role available (starting in July). The Business Development Managers are responsible for meeting with new schools, understanding their needs, and developing seminar programs that will help take their students’ results to the next level. If you are interested and want more information, please check out the job details here or contact Phoebe.

SINGAPORE

While it was not as hectic on the seminar front this month in Singapore, there have still been some stellar performances from the presenting team. A massive nod to Emil “Einstein” Lim who had a perfect 100% presenting term to take out the April award, followed closely by Nathaniel and Amelia.

On the coaching front, Lizzie Castles has been absolutely killing it, getting new coaches on board and debriefing with plenty of happy parents and students, which leads us to the Helping the Kids moment of the term. Oli, in year 8 and pretty apathetic at the best of times, took a while to warm up to Ryo – but they found common ground with their love for all things streetwear. It just so happens Ryo runs his very own streetwear hub in Singapore and Oli, having heard Ryo’s stories about the place, kept pestering his mum to go visit. So, they did just that! A heart-warming moment where it’s clear the coach-student relationship is extremely strong, leading to a more motivated Oli. And a bonus is his marks have improved!!

BIG OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL PRESENTERS WOLDWIDE!

Singapore also have a massive opportunity available for presenters globally. Team Singapore is looking for an INTERNATIONAL PRESENTER for 3 months from August 19 to October 25. In this role you will be responsible for travelling across South East Asia, presenting at international schools in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong. If you have wanted to travel South East Asia and GET PAID, then this is the opportunity for you! Present in Penang on Friday and then have the weekend on the beach. Does it get any better than that? If you are interested, please check out the job details here for more information and the details on where to apply.

SOUTH AFRICA

We have a three-way tie for Presenter of the Month for April with Danielle Retief from Team Gauteng retaining her crown for the third month in a row with 10/10 feedback. She is joined on the podium (it’s a packed podium!) by Candice Weber of Team Gauteng, and Antonette Motloung from Team Grahamstown who also achieved 10/10 feedback for the month. Congratulations! Congratulations to Danielle and Candice, who have been ridiculously consistent and have basically carved out a place at the top of the rankings just for themselves. Great stuff to Antonette for throwing down the challenge to Candice and Danielle.

Team SA are in the middle of their busiest presenting month of the year, and have had some amazing feedback coming in! May is also unofficially ‘CSI month’ and we will be working with Absa, The Rupert Foundation, Moshal Scholarship Program, Rural Education Access Program, Toyota and Mondi across the month. We are running our Annual Teacher Conference in 5 provinces over the next few weeks and are expecting more than 250 teachers from 100 schools to attend. We have also run our first ever digital coaching session which is extremely exciting as it opens up the possibility of expanding the coaching program across South Africa and beyond…

Taking applications for Account Manager role

Finally, Team SA are recruiting for a full-time Account Manager to join the office in July, so if you are interested in applying or know someone who would make an awesome addition to the team, please find the job advertisement here. If you know someone who would be amazing, forward the ad on as we have a 5000 Rand referral prize should we hire someone referred from outside Elevate!

UNITED KINGDOM

A massive shout-out to Luke Meehan for Team Northwest who takes out the Presenter of the Month, for the third month in a row, having maintained 100% stats across 60 seminars. Great stuff Luke? Who is going to challenge Luke in May? The challenge is thrown down!

Luke completes the hat-trick of Presenter of the month awards!

Coaching

In other news, coaching continues to go from strength to strength in the UK with more great feedback filtering in across the month. Here are some of the highlights:

· “The sessions have gone really well. Charlotte (the student) thought that Ben was a great motivator and found her sessions really helpful. Will (sibling also being coached) has found them really useful too and Ben is the perfect fit for him” - Parent

· “A huge thank you to both of you (James Brignull and Holly) for providing such a brilliant service to Molly over the past few months. After some initial reluctance at the idea of being mentored, your personalised and energetic approach was fantastically disarming and meant that Molly began looking forward to her sessions with you, seeing them as a real opportunity to give herself a competitive advantage in the classroom and beyond. Particularly noteworthy was the time taken on mindset - your work on debunking all those ideas which have held her back and then re-establishing new behaviour was incredibly powerful. Your programme isn’t cheap but you get real 'bang from your buck' as the techniques are not curriculum-specific but can be applied universally across all subjects and beyond. Indeed, on a recent DoE trip Molly's expedition leader comment on her great attitude and leadership skills which moved the group forward and helped complete the tasks in record time. I put this new-found confidence in large part down to Elevate's interventions - she had all the skills before but now has the techniques to put them to best use. Crucially, I had so much faith in your approach as it is based on sound, empirical research. This is music to my ears at a time when we are bombarded with contradictory advice which appears to be based on little more than hearsay.” - Parent

Great stuff Team Coaching!

2 roles available in the office

Finally, like every other office, the UK team are continuing to recruit, and are currently taking applications for 2 full-time roles: Business Development Manager and Operations Manager. Click on either role for more information or how to apply.

TEAM EAST COAST US

Last, but certainly not least is Team East Coast US, where the Presenter of the Month was…..<drum roll>…. Woods Altidor, who was an absolute champion across the month of April. Not only did she conduct 49 seminars across the month, but she has also been captaining the roll-out of a coaching program at one of Elevate’s client schools in downtown Manhattan, and ran her first parent workshop too! Thanks for all of your effort Woods – it is greatly appreciated!

Woods Altidor - NY presenter of the month in April

Welcomes all-round

Big welcomes are also extended to our newest full-time staff members Meg O’Connor, Dimetri Duckrey and David Brooke. Meg and Dimetri join as our newest Program Managers, and David as Head of Recruitment. Meg joins us from IvyWise, a premier education tutoring/consultancy company, where she was a Tutoring Manager who oversaw the design and implementation of tutoring curriculum for the company, as well as the recruitment, selection and training of tutoring staff. She is a bit of a crazy Manchester United soccer fan (DB note: we will forgive you for that!), but she would tell you it’s ‘the real football’.

Dimetri Duckrey is our other new Program Manager for Elevate. Dimetri most recently held a position as a Spanish teacher at a charter school in Camden, NJ, but has also held classroom positions in South Carolina. It is going to be fantastic getting his insight into the day-to-day musings of teachers as we build out plans to increase the level of engagement and follow-up from teachers in the classroom.

David Brooke is officially our new Head of Recruitment, moving from his position as a presenter and Team Leader. I’m sure you will all agree that David has been a fantastic TL and presenter over the last 16 months, and we know that his energy and infectious personality will hold him in great stead for his new role in bringing in more presenters into the team.

Over the last 2 weeks, David has been out conducting tabling sessions at most of the colleges across New York City and New Jersey. A huge thank you to those presenters who joined him on each of the different days. We have over 700 applications from the sessions so far, so we’re excited to see who will be added to the team for the Fall over the coming weeks!
