In the first week of July, New York hosted Elevate’s semi-annual GM Conference, where it was announced that Elevate will be opening 2 new offices in 2020 in Los Angeles and Washington DC. Here’s a quick rundown on the new territories and how you can be involved:
Washington DC
What does the territory include?
The Washington DC territory includes:
Washington DC (obviously)
Maryland: Baltimore
Virginia: Richmond
North Carolina: Charlotte & Raleigh
Why?
The population is roughly the same size as Australia, with a similar number of schools.
What’s good about being based in DC?
Do you love culture, history, good weather, and sports? If you answered ‘Yes!’, then Washington is for you!
Culture: Washington has some of the best museums in the world, coupled with great restaurants and cafes.
History: Is there a city with more famous monuments?
Good weather: Summer is like 5 months long! That’s 5 months longer than London!
Sports: The MLB, NBA, WNBA, NFL, NHL, MLS, and every other sporting league/acronym have a team in Washington.
Oh, and it is easy to get around! It’s a 3-hour train to New York, a short-flight down to Miami and everything in between. Get to the snow or vineyards by car! What a life!!
LA (SoCal)
What does the territory include?
The SoCal territory includes:
· Los Angeles
· San Bernadino
· San Diego
· Arizona, Phoenix
Why?
The population is huge! This territory is actually bigger than Australia!
What’s good about being based in SoCal?
Do you love glamour, the outdoors, and great weather? If you do, then SoCal is for you. Here are some of the highlights:
Famous people: Live like Aari Gold as you practice your paparazzi skills or just rub shoulders with the beautiful and the famous.
Outdoors: Great beaches on your doorstep, a short-drive to the desert or the mountains. Tap into your inner Bear Grylls as you live it up in the great outdoors.
Food: Taco trucks, Cuban, Nobu, In-n-Out Burger, Thaitown, Koreantown and all the other towns.
Pop culture: from Beverly Hills 90210, Beverly Hills Cop, Clueless, Modern Family, the OC, Entourage, every song ever written about California. It will all actually make sense.
How can you be involved?
Now that we have named the territories, we need to find 2 amazing Founders and 2 2ICs to get the territories up and running. So, what does starting a new territory entail?
6-12 months of training: We know what you are thinking: “Sounds great, but I have no experience at this.” The good news is, no-one has experience doing this kind of thing. Rob, Mike, Dip and Kirun had never started a new Elevate territory either before heading off on their challenge. Having said that, we will spend 6-12 months training you and getting you ready and confident. Each founder selected will join JV and myself at Global HQ and learn to sell, as well as learning to master all the ins and outs of an Elevate business before being parachuted into LA or DC.
12 months market testing: Once you are trained and ready, you will spend 12 months flying in and out of the territory conducting market research to test whether the market is viable. This normally involves spending 2 weeks in the market, attending meetings with schools, running seminars, speaking to teachers, and hiring presenters. We have a checklist of factors that we need to demonstrate before giving an office a green light, and it will be your job to turn each of these lights green.
Open new office: Once you have the green light, you will move (along with your co-founder and 2IC) to the new territory, and begin your new life as a real-dyed in the wool Los Angelian or DCean (are these actually things???). You will open the official office and begin to grow both the presenting team and the full-time team over the coming years.
What’s in it for you?
Live and work overseas.
Build and run a business at an age that most other people are doing photocopying or running down to Starbucks to grab their bosses a coffee.
Own a part of the business. You aren’t only growing Elevate’s business, you are growing YOUR OWN business as well.
Go through the greatest few years of personal development and learning that one can imagine.
Interested?
If that sounds interesting to you, then take the next step and send us an application. Send a CV and cover letter to douglas@elevateeducation.com by 10 August 2019 to lodge your interest. Once we have received your application, we will send you an information pack with all the details on the application process, timelines, etc.
We have said it before, but it is worth repeating: it doesn’t matter where you are in the world, how long you have been with the company, or your role with the company. This process is open to everyone.
If you applied for #whatsnext v1 and you got to the 2nd interview stage, submit a CV and cover letter and we will express you through to the final rounds. If you applied last time, but didn’t get through to the 2nd interview, apply again as the whole process re-sets!
Good luck and get in before JV decides to take SoCal himself!
