Pack your sunglasses, your Italian phrase book, and your gelato-eating gloves! Elevate is running its first ever Global Awards Event and it is being held in Florence, Italy in August this year!
What are the Global Awards?
In 2018, we launched the Elevate Why, which documents why we exist as a company. As part of the process for developing the Why we spent a lot of time talking to Elevators at every level of the organization: presenters, full-time office members, and office founders about why they were part of a Elevate. One of the things that we heard over and over again was that staff members always had a sense of being challenged. People continuously said that each time they did something well and began to get comfortable, they found they were quickly offered a new challenge, which took them back outside their comfort zone. They loved the ongoing challenge of always having to learn and grow. Whether that challenge was presenting your first large group seminar, parent seminar or staff seminar, through to becoming a TL, or entering the office, there was always a sense of a new challenge lying around the corner. Having heard this so often it became the second part of our Why: Challenge,Grow, Reward.
The Global Awards are our way of highlighting the mission of Challenge, Grow, Reward. They are a celebration of the people across the organization who have really challenged themselves, really grown as individuals and leaders, and achieved exceptional things across the year.
Florence? I love Florence! How do I get there?
Like all great epic competitions (think The Voice, the Olympics, and most importantly the Telstra Business Awards), there is a process. Here is how it works:
State Awards: At the end of the school year, each State (province or territory depending on your country) will run an Award Nights where the State Presenter of the Year and the State Team Leader of the Year are crowned.
National Awards: What Vegas is to American Idol, National Awards are to Elevate. Each of the State Award Winners wins a return trip to their national Head Office for a day of festivities. At the National Awards, the National Presenter of the Year, National Team Leader of the Year, and Office Staff Member of the Year are crowned, each of whom wins a Golden Ticket to the Global Awards. Australia has already hosted their National Awards in December 2018. Team NY are hosting theirs on Friday 28th June whilst Team UK are hosting theirs on Thursday 18th July. Singapore and South Africa, yours are being hosted in December 2019 with dates to be confirmed (which unfortunately means you won't be at this year's awards but we will see you in 2020!)
So what’s the plan for Florence?
We have 3 days of activities, fun, eating, and learning in store for everyone:
Day 1: Sightseeing tour of Florence, including landmarks like the Doumo, the Pitti Palace, and the Statue of David, rounded out with lots and lots eating….truffle gnocchi, anyone?
Day 2: Chianti wine and food tour. We jump onto our private bus and head off into the Tuscan countryside where we will visit two world-famous wineries for a private tour and tasting. In between the wineries we will pass by the famous walled town of San Gimignano where we stop for an amazing lunch.More truffles, anyone?
Day 3: We go on a private walking tour put together for us by an Art Professor from Stanford, who will walk us through a tour on the ideas of the renaissance. We'll take in some of Florence’s most famous landmarks and artworks as we tour the Uffizi.
Most importantly though, Day 3 will culminate in the Black Tie* Global Awards night where, for the first time ever, we will crown and celebrate our Global Presenter of the Year, Global Team Leader, and Global Office Member of the Year. This will be followed by an evening of eating, dancing, and festivities.
Who’s going to be there?
Our first award winners and attendees are:
Fisher Day – Australian Presenter of the Year (Team NSW)
Eliza Eady – Australian Team Leader of the Year (Team WA)
Elliot Newman – Australian Office Member of the Year
Phoebe Pincus – GM
Team Oz Representing - What a crew!
Could you be joining them?
I want in. How do I do this?
Option one is to win your national awards! There is still time to ramp up your stats, increase support to your team members, and crush your KPIs so get going!
BUT,should you not win one of these awards, you could still be there.
As per JV’s email last week launching #whatsnext 2.0, one lucky person has the chance to win their way to the Global Awards. To put yourself in the running there are 3 simple steps:
Sign up to the #Whatsnext mailing list at https://mailchi.mp/1d1423c57f9c/whatsnext
Follow the #Whatsnext countdown. In one of the updates you will be asked to guess one location where we will be opening the next set of international offices. Answer correctly and you are in the draw!
Tune into the #whatsnext announcement on Tuesday 2nd July at 6 pm (US Eastern Time) and see if your name is drawn.
That’s it. Nice and easy. So if you like wine, pizza, and travel, then make sure you put your name down on the mailing list. https://mailchi.mp/1d1423c57f9c/whatsnext
This is going to be one of the highlights of the year, and hopefully I get to see you there!
* Black Tie not mandatory
