June 2024 Around the Grounds

Updated: Jul 11

It’s the end of Term 2 in Aus and South Africa, and the end of the school year for the US and UK (almost).

June has been slightly quieter as a result, but EOT drinks and awards mean there’s still plenty to talk about...

Team Aus

The end of Term 2 is here for our Elevaters down under, and with over 1000 sems delivered during that time, the team have well and truly earned those EOT drinks.

And on that note, let’s give it up for the standout performers in June!

Aus Presenter of the Month

Simeon

Simeon rounds out Term 2 as our Aussie Presenter of the Month with some beautiful stats: 99% across all his sems in June. Great work Simeon - that’s almost as impressive as your ability to hold four cats at one time.

For Simeon, one of the highlights of being an Elevate Presenter is the social aspect of the job:

“I truly love the people that work at Elevate. In nearly 5 years of sems, EOTDs, social sports, camping trips, and so much more, I’ve been lucky enough to meet some of my closest mates here!”

Well done again on smashing June, Simeon – we hope July brings more of the same!

Standout Presenter Feedback

Vic

‘Vic is an asset to your company. She is knowledgeable and engaging and was able to communicate complex ideas simply and concisely.’

‘Outstanding and highly professional. Our staff and students were very impressed.’

Nelson

‘Nelson presented well to students and was engaging, and was also able to pull back their attention when they started to wander, which was great.’

Josie

‘Josie did a great job engaging the students and working with them. It was incredibly impressive that she asked me a question about a conversation we had last time she was here. Great listening skills and great memory!!’

Aus Coach of the Month

Amy

Huge shoutout to Amy, our Aus Coach of the Month for June. Amy is one of our RMHC coaches who has recently trained to join the consultant team. She frequently receives great feedback from parents on how well she’s able to connect with their child and make the sessions valuable and enjoyable. Awesome work, Amy.

"My journey with Elevate began at the beginning of the year when my old high school teacher told me about a job opportunity she thought I’d be great at! I knew of Elevate already as they'd visited my school before, so I was really excited when I heard they were hiring. Over the past 4/5 months, I have enjoyed working 1-on-1 with students, even being lucky enough to work with Ronald McDonald House Charity. This gave me the opportunity to be challenged and grow as both a coach and a person. I look forward to continuing my journey with Elevate, developing my own skills and sharing this knowledge to support others and continue to see them excel."

Standout Coach Feedback

George

‘George is a really good communicator.’

Sasha

‘Sasha was great, she explained things very clearly and all makes sense.’

From team Vic we have two goodbye posts, shared by Nelson and Isaac, bidding farewell to Nick and Arshia – sorry to see you both go, but best of luck from the rest of the Elevate team! From Caroline, we have a feel-good post sharing her experience travelling to South Australia:

‘I had the most wholesome time in South Australia! I hopped on a red-eye flight and drove out to Murray bridge from Adelaide, where I got to spend 3 amazing sessions with year 10s, 11s, and 12s… and even got given a box of chocolates?!?! Seriously, I’ve been so keen to travel interstate during my elevate career, and today that lil dream came true in the dreamiest of ways. They were some of my best sessions and I truly had a smile on my face all day, thinking, “I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS MY JOB”

TEAM NSW

In Team NSW’s Slack channel we have: a photo from Moneli of the team ‘imitating the plant’; a rainy throwback from Pearl; a photo of Kate’s AYE booklet from her own Elevate visit she found when looking through her high school papers; a great first-day post from Kiera; and a first Elevate flight/overnight-pic from Ellyn!

Team SA

The first round of exams in South Africa have now finished up and the school holidays have offered a welcome break for students, presenters, and coaches before they ramp up for another load of assessments in October.

As well as thanking team members who have provided exceptional support to school communities this month, we’d also like to welcome onboard some new presenters in SA who will be helping the kids come Term 3. Scroll down to meet them!

SA Presenter of the Month

Leshego

Leading a masterclass in presenting across June, we have Leshego, our SA presenter of the month. Leshego secured a fantastic 99.17% stats average and 9.25 teacher rating, setting a load of students up for success in their exams and impressing teachers with her sems.

Standout Presenter Feedback

‘The students all loved the presenter – Nolwazi'

SA Coach of the Month

Students have consistently reported finding the sessions helpful and enjoyable, and parents have said she builds great rapport with their children! Thank you, Lara-Lynn, for the great work you've put in this past month!

Team Photos

Above we have a photo of Asante about to deliver an online session to students in Zimbabwe and a post-sem pic from Team Gauteng.

Above you can see the 25 new presenters who have joined the team for Term 3, and the Team Leaders who have trained them up! A huge welcome to all our South African newbies!

Team UK

It’s been a quieter month in the UK with GCSE and A-Levels only just finishing up and the long summer break now just a few weeks away. There might not be much happening on the UK slack channel, but we’ve got some great photos from team meetups and two team members in particular who deserve some Around the Grounds recognition...

UK Presenter of the Month

Miah

June has been a great month for Miah – he not only bags Presenter of the Month but was also announced as London Presenter of the Year for getting great feedback, great stats, and offering great team support. Well done, Miah, for delivering consistently fantastic sems!

Miah is an Elevate pro, presenting with the London team for over 4 years now. When we asked him what he likes most about the role, this was his response:

‘One of the main reasons I've stuck around with Elevate for so long is being able to curate the 'light bulb' moment in students' eyes! It could be from a boost in confidence, a relatable joke, or a study skills-based epiphany. Knowing I've been able to actually help someone out in a meaningful way is everything to me.’

That’s what helping the kids is all about. Keep it up, Miah!

UK Coach of the Month

Talib

Our Coach of the Month for June is Talib! Talib has been recognised by the team for representing the Elevate values in every coaching session he runs, in turn getting him fantastic feedback and student results. A huge thank you from the rest of the Elevate team for doing such an awesome job this month, Talib!

Talib shared his favourite part of coaching with us, take look below:

“One of the best things about coaching is getting to build a relationship with the students over a longer period of time. Being able to weave in conversations about common interests and hobbies all whilst still making a difference to their education makes the job super fun”

We also wanted to share some student feedback Talib has received:

"He is so friendly, and I learnt loads"

"Talib is very good and very helpful with me"

Standout Coach Feedback

Andrea

"GREAT memory session thank you"

Imogen

"She's so kind and funny and she teaches me heaps"

Riazul

"What a guy, he's so reassuring"

Team US

Over in the US, schools have now broken up for Summer after a busy month of end-of-year assessments and graduations. But with Summer School set to kick off shortly, our US presenting team will be kept busy over the holidays! Due to there being fewer sems delivered, we haven’t got any standout feedback or slack highlights to share this month, but don’t worry, these will definitely make a comeback in the new academic year!

Let’s take a look at what they got up to in the final month of this academic year...

US Presenter of the Month

Winy

Our US Presenter of the Month is Winy! Winy has been recognised for her awesome work delivering parent seminars (as well as student sessions!) where she gets a great response from parents and teachers – just like this feedback: 'Winy is phenomenal!' Parents are engaged and interested’.

Winy’s favourite part of her role is the opportunity to help the kids and the tangible impact that has:

‘What I love most about seminars is making an impact on the people I connect with. Knowing that I can make some kind of difference is incredibly rewarding, especially hearing how some students implement what I teach them!!’

Thanks for being such an awesome example, Winy!

And that’s the June recap done and dusted – thanks for joining us again!

If you haven’t already, don’t forget to check out our very own CEO’s Meet the Team, here – in video format!

And if you’d like to leave us some feedback on how we can make these updates even better, click here.
