Elevate’s first ever Global Awards were hosted in Florence in August and, personally speaking, it has been the highlight of my year. Over the course of 3 days, JV and myself were joined by the following amazing National Award winners:
Team Oz: Phoebes (GM), Elliot Newman (Office Member of the Year), Eliza Eady (Team Leader of the Year), and Fisher Day (Presenter of the Year).
Team UK: Laans (GM), Tyler Harding (Office Member of the Year), Luke Kelly (Team Leader of the Year), and Mo Elkossi (Presenter of the Year).
Team US: Rob (in spirit, as he was grounded in London after losing his passport ☹), Tabel Reyes (Office Member of the Year), Yazmi Miah (Team Leader of the Year), and Devonte Gilchrist (Presenter of the Year).
Team South Africa: And last but not least, GM Adam Diprose represented Team SA.
We had an amazing itinerary lined up for the crew.
Day 1: Free time in Florence!
Day one was spent chilling out in Florence and slowly taking in the sights of the city, culminating in a tour of the Palazzo Pitti.
Day 2: Tuscan wine tour
On Day 2 we journeyed into the beautiful Tuscan countryside for a wine and food tour of the best Tuscany has to offer. Stop one was at the Fattorio Poggia winery, where we did a tour of the vineyards, learnt how Chiantis are made, and then tested the output.
From Fattorio Poggia we headed to San Gimignano, where we did a walking tour of the beautiful walled city and, most importantly, tested the “world’s best” gelato. Having now sampled gelato in 174 of the world’s 195 independent nations, JV confirmed that it was indeed the world’s best!
Having broken every parent’s primary rule of no ice cream before lunch, we then headed to lunch at Tenuta Torciano where we had a master course in how to look like an authentic wine connoisseur from the winery’s sommelier, learnt how to open a bottle of champagne with a sword, and had an amazing home-cooked Tuscan lunch.
The day was ended with another amazing meal, the steak to end all steaks, and an opportunity to demonstrate our newly acquired wine drinking skills. Unfortunately, Tabel was banned from putting his Champagne opening skills to use.
Day 3: Florence walking tour and THE GLOBAL AWARDS!
Day 3 was spent immersing ourselves in in the history of Florence and the renaissance with Professor Suzanne Myers who took us on a walking tour through historic Florence, and then through an amazing tour of the Uffizzi.
But all of this was simply the warm-up to the main event: THE GLOBAL AWARDS…and without further ado, here are the inaugural winners....

A massive congrats to Tabel who has had a big 12 months after joining the office team, having been a presenter and TL before making the step in the office. Tabel led the way with business objectives achieved and 360 degree review from the office team and exec team. Congratulations to Tabel!
And there you have it. Our Global Award winners for 2019: Mo, Yaz, and Tabel! However, a massive shout-out to all the other nominees. The margins between everyone were super slim, and the three days we had together simply served to reinforce what amazing people we have across the company.
